Social Ministry Year End Report
Thanks to the generosity of our congregation and our
partnership with Love INC, St. John’s Social Ministry was able to help a lot
of people in need.
·
Our Social
Ministry makes contributions to Tri-Cities Ministries, Love INC,
Fibromyalgia, and the Stephens Ministry, each year.
·
In March we
packed 12 Easter food boxes with the help of our Youth Group. The food was
provided for God's Pantry by our generous members.
·
May found us having our Mother’s Day diaper drive for our
local pregnancy center.
·
Late August
we committed to an extended meal provider program that is ongoing and very
successful. This is over and above the normal calls for meals that we
receive from new mothers and surgery/illness patients. A special thank you
goes out to all our meal providers that volunteered so willingly and enabled
us to sustain such a long commitment.
·
In
September, we made up 32 layette sets and collected clothing items to be
sent to Lutheran World Relief. We also collected used coats to be delivered
to local school.
·
November
found us filling up 12 Thanksgiving food boxes for families in need with the
help of our Junior High Youth Group. The food was provided for God's Pantry
by our generous members.
·
In December
we prepared 126 angels for our Angel Tree. We packed 12 Christmas food boxes
with the help of our Senior High Youth Group.
·
Throughout the course of the year, we have supplied food,
paid rent, utilities and dental bills for members due to sickness or
unemployment.
