As Lutherans we use the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther which inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century.  Our beliefs can be summarized in three short phrases: Grace alone, Scripture alone, and Faith alone.

Grace alone:  “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9.  We believe in the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit coequal and coeternal, one God.  Though we are sinful and rebel against Him and do not deserve His love,  He sent Jesus, His Son, to live, die, and rise from the grave in order to pay the price for our salvation.

Scripture alone:  The Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible Word, in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ.  The Bible is the single source for proper Christian doctrine.

Faith alone:  Through His suffering and death, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for everyone.  Those who hear this good news and believe it have eternal life.  “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17.
