One day there was a sloth, a squirrel, and a skunk. They all decided to race across the road. So when the race started, the squirrel started running and dodging its way across the road. Close behind the squirrel was the skunk. He too started to dodge the cars and make his way across. Vroom! a car zoomed by, but the skunk was safe. Far behind the skunk was the sloth. He started across very slowly. He did not dodge the cars because he was too slow. Vroom! another car zoomed by and the sloth was not safe. He died.

A Fable by Jenna

Once there was an Arabian Stallion who was black as night and lived in the Sahara desert. A lion pounced upon him. “Please spare me my life and I will repay you,” the Arab pleaded. The lion agreed and before long they were friends.

Now a great famine came upon the land. The gazelles ran away, and the water holes dried up. But the Arab Stallion was smart. He would slice open a cactus with his hoof and drink the water that dripped out of it. But the lion could not. He only got sharp cactus spines in his soft paws and cried out in pain. The Arab gladly shared the little water he had and they stuck up for each other.

But soon the lion became hungry. He pleaded to the Arab, “Please my friend, I am hungry and soon I will die, let me eat you,” The Arab said, “Have I not repaid you? Have I not stood up for you and given you the water I find day after day?” But the Arab had heart, and said, “You may eat me if you catch me.”

So the Arab ran, he ran and ran until he began to sweat blood. The Arab died doing what he loved. The lion cried and ate the Arab.

A good friend will give his life for you

                                                9-13-2005 By Danielle

One day a lion was sleeping by a little pond. A mouse was running from a tiger from behind. The tiger gave up then ran off. The little mouse ran right into the lion’s behind.

Then the big angry lion sat up and said to the little mouse, “I was sleeping you made me very angry, now I have to eat you.” The little mouse said, “Oh, please, I didn’t mean any harm. Spare my little life.” Then the lion said,” Why should I? You woke me from me nap.”The mouse replied in a squeaky voice, “Oh please lion I … I …. Um … need food for my little family. So please spare my life.” The lion said, “No I won’t.” The mouse said,  “A little mouse can do big things so I will make you a deal. If you need help with something then I will be there.” He thought for a minute. “Ok fine, it’s a deal.” The mouse thanked the lion and then ran off. A week past and the lion needed help with something. He was hungry and he wanted the mouse. But the mouse was no where to be found. The mouse was nowhere. The lion finally realized that the mouse tricked him. The little mouse knew that the lion was going to eat him. Then he said to himself, “Never trust a mouse when a lion is hungry.”
